KILAUEA — A home-based mother and daughter travel agency aims to provide personalized service while providing the buying leverage of a large company.
Paper Plane Travel is a full-service travel agency with an emphasis on the business and leisure side. As an affiliate of the larger Montrose Travel, the independent contractor has access to air contracts, unpublished rates, added amenities, and discounts on hotel and car reservations — to benefit businesses and international travelers especially.
“Customer service has gone by the wayside,” said Lynn Williams, owner and travel manager for Paper Plane. “When you call the airlines today you get a voice recording and a phone tree that makes it just such a process to get through when all you have to do with us is call, text or email.”
Williams brings 28 years experience in all facets of the industry. She said her goal is to provide unparalleled service.
The online business travel tools are tailored to each business. Small companies are not always aware what is offered and that could save money through the agency buying power and the flexibility of the online booking tools, she said.
“Some airlines have programs for corporate accounts, which allow a company to build points to use for upgrades and free tickets, in addition to other benefits,” Williams said.
Paper Planes can also handle tracking of travel booking and related expenditures. The data can tie in with the client’s own expense reporting software.
“We can just book your tickets or manage your entire travel policy,” Williams said. “We help businesses manage their travel spending, which is important to businesses of any size.”
As a corporate specialist Williams can help with relocation travel and temporary but long-term situations. She can also negotiate corporate contracts with airlines, cars and hotels.
Her daughter, Karli Capp, is the meeting and leisure travel planner. She applies her background in art, marketing and event planning to the leisure travel side of the business and also handles the emerging social media presence.
“I have just always really enjoyed learning and I love the opportunity that working in the travel industry provides,” Capp said.
Taking the stress out of planning by allowing an agency to do the research means more and better options that fit the traveler’s needs. Whether planning a leisurely weekend trip to Seattle or a honeymoon in the remotest corner of the African continent, the agency has access to preferred suppliers and trusted relationships.
“The most value comes with using a travel professional for business travel, complex itineraries, international travel, luxury travel, and when you don’t know where you want to go,” Capp said.
