Kikiaola Holdings elects new board chair

Kikiaola Holdings Inc., the land company on the island of Kauai owned by the descendants of H.P. Faye, announced that George Christensen has been elected to chair its board of directors. Christensen, a real estate developer and building contractor from Haleiwa on Oahu, succeeds Michael Faye, Waimea, who decided to step down from the board to devote more time to his construction business and other interests.

At the Kikiaola annual meeting May 10, Christensen acknowledged Faye’s dedication and commitment, “Mike began his work with this company as a teenager. At 22, he became the youngest member ever elected to the board of directors. He was the project manager during Kikiaola’s construction of Waimea Plantation Cottages, and he built his own successful construction company as well as other businesses. Mike served the company off and on, in various capacities, for more than 40 years. We thank him for his creativity, hard work and long- time service to the family business.”

Re-elected to the board along with Christensen were Christopher Faye, San Francisco, Calif., an intellectual property attorney for Intuit Inc., Max Pinkston, Campbell, Calif., executive with Material Handling Dealership Group, Christine Faye, Kekaha, Hawaii, Collections Curator with the Kauai Museum, and James Beaver, Ashland, Ore., Principal of Beaver Communications LLC, a public relations agency.

Among the highlights of this year’s annual meeting was Kikiaola stockholders planting 130 coconuts to celebrate the 130th anniversary of H.P. Faye Ltd. being incorporated in the Kingdom of Hawaii. The coconuts will grow and replace the towering 100-year-old palms at Waimea Plantation Cottages which are nearing the end of their lives.
