Kudos to Heidi Herr and her ohana for hosting another great Colors for Cancer event to kick off summer Saturday at the North Vidinha fields.
Team Lucy, a team from the Westside, was doing its first colorful event in tribute of grandma Lucy Samio who died of pancreatic cancer. Tia Kawamura (what’s the made-up name?), Juliet, Ryan, Kaui, Ani, Tita and Chalissah Samio braved the colorful clouds.
Hats off to Kauai Police Department’s Mark Ozaki of the Kauai Police Activities League for working with Heidi and the Herr ohana to make both flag football and the colorful event take place, some of the flag football players participated in both events.
Sean Michael Shigematsu, home for Na Koa Meet Coach Norm Chow event, couldn’t resist coming back to flag football where he had a blast with Shawn McGurrin and the other officials. Sean said he even remembers playing football at the stadium at the New Kapaa Town Park.
