KAPAA — Hanakila basketball swept its series Tuesday night during the Kaulupono Summer Basketball league games at the Bernice Hundley Gym in Kapaa.
In the division 3 game, Hanakila edged Team Central-White, 29-28.
Keawe Cabebe, nailed the sole three-ball in the match, netting five points in the first half along with Jon Calvan to give Hanakila a 14-12 lead at the break.
Cabebe went on to finish with 12 points.
Cameron Leanio, fueling the Team Central effort on a game-high 17 points, was frantic in the final ticks, but came up short. He got help from Braedon Simao who netted four points, including a trey in the opening half.
Derrick Jarquio set the pace for Hanakila, finishing with six points, four coming in the first half when the North Shore squad built an 8-2 lead at the intermission.
Hanakila stayed ahead in the second half, 10-8 behind four points from Kala Rall for its 18-10 win over Team Lihue.
Team Lihue scoring was spread between Iverson Corpuz, Christopher Harvey, and Conner Kosen each getting a pair, and Michael Navarro leading the charge with four points.
