The National Scholastic Surfing Association of Hawaii will host its Summer Event at PK’s break in Poipu at 7:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
The Poipu event is No. 2 in a series of nine events scheduled across the state and is open to contestants from age 6 through masters for boys and girls.
The Hawaii NSSA tours provides aspiring young athletes the opportunity to sharpen their competitive skills in all conditions at multiple breaks around the state. It combines surfing and scholastic achievements, requiring participants to turn in their report cards and maintain a 2.0, or better, grade point average.
Yearly scholarships are presented to outstanding students and excellence in sportsmanship.
