KOLOA — Tree tunnel has been spruced up.
Maluhia Road was closed from 7 a.m. for the annual project, which marks the start of the Koloa Plantation Days celebration.
Volunteers from several community organizations as well as resorts on the South Shore converged on the popular attraction along with equipment and manpower from the County of Kauai in cleaning one of the main entries into Koloa.
A big piece of eucalyptus dropped onto Maluhia Road after being cut away by a chain saw operator in a lift during the Tree Tunnel cleanup.
Koloa Plantation days runs July 18-27 and features more than 25 events celebrating the plantation heritage and contemporary vitality of both Koloa and Poipu.
