What’s best for Kauai is most important
Concerning the arguments for the Stupidferry, they always start with the letter “I.”
“I can travel to other islands.”
“I can bring furniture back to Kauai.”
“I can bring a car from Oahu.”
And of course, “I can save money.”
“I, I, I.”
All debate must be solidly founded, based of what is best for Kauai herself, the environment and the ability of our limited infrastructure to absorb the onslaught of what would arrive on a daily basis.

Candidates, please sound off on Superferry debt
A question for anyone reading TGI, especially, this answer is sought from the four gubernatorial candidates: Mr. Aiona (R), Mr. Ige (D), Mr. Hannemann (I), and Mr. Davis (L).
Is the debt still hovering at $35 million, still being paid for by the taxpayers/voters, that is still owed for the Superferry mess? Please answer as-soon-as-possible (ASAP) via our TGI editorial / letters section.
Mahalo to the candidates for the next governor of Hawaii for responding and anyone else for educating the taxpayers and voters prior to the upcoming November election, as some candidates for governor are pushing for a return of a Superferry. Taxpayers deserve to be educated on this expensive debt. It doesn’t make fiscal sense when there is a severe lack of affordable housing, mental health services are cut, residential substance abuse treatment centers are non-existent, our schools need funding, junk playgrounds for keiki, our kupuna need services, youth suicide is off the charts, etc.
