LIHUE — People still have time to get involved in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
“The Office of Elderly Affairs is helping with registration which starts at 7 a.m.,” said Rose Manago, a co-chair of the event. “That way, people who make up their mind at the last minute can still participate.”
The walk starts at 8 a.m. Saturday with sponsors and contributions still being welcomed. Fundraising included a garage sale on Saturday.
Sharon Lasker, the marketing director at the Regency at Puakea, was among the throng of shoppers, noting that people are welcome to enjoy a hot dog lunch for a $5 donation today while having their cars washed for a donation from noon to 4 p.m. at the Puhi retirement and assisted living facility.
“All of the proceeds benefit the Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” Lasker said. “The Regency from Puakea has had a team with the Alzheimer’s Association from the time it started.”
