LIHUE — Farmers Insurance wants to make 2014 the year it thanks a million teachers.
So Friday, representatives of the Kauai office, Gezmynn Viquelia and Suzanne Yokoyama, were joined by Carmen Quidisem of the Prince Kuhio office in Hilo to distribute gift baskets of appreciation to four Kauai teachers.
“We, at Farmers Insurance Hawaii, appreciate all that our local teachers do to make a difference in the lives of our keiki,” said Melanie Joseph, marketing manager for Farmers Insurance Hawaii. “We are providing these gift baskets to provide educators with some basic classroom materials and resources to support their efforts of helping our youth succeed.”
The teachers were Tracy Kobayashi, a fourth-grade teacher at Eleele Elementary School; Enjoli Rapozo-Hoskins and Jennifer Johnston at the Koloa Elementary School and Charmaine Burkhart at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School.
Joseph said the honored teachers were nominated by the Farmers Insurance employees “for making a difference in their lives.” The nominations were followed by Farmers Insurance employees collecting more than 3,000 classroom supplies and $1,900 in cash donations to fill the teacher appreciation baskets.
Joseph said the gift baskets include supplies which teachers often purchase from their own funds for the classroom.
