Kaytlen Akau said if you put on a smile and wave at people, they wave back (and sometimes beep their horn). Kaytlen and Kayla Koerte were volunteering as course marshals for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Saturday and said between them, they had 161 waves and at least four honks while waiting on the walkers.
Kudos to Umberto Blanco, Sharon Lasker and the many people (even got to see Ron Wood) who made the event a success. Val Rynda said she was late because she stayed up to wait for her daughter to come home from the fair.
Congratulations to Kalani Vierra (he led the Kauai Juniors to second place in Virginia Beach) who teamed with Crystal Apeles to win the tandem surf contest (Jack and Kay Leonard of Gymnastics Kauai said it was chicken-skin) at the Duke’s Foundation event on Oahu. Eugene Ancheta said he finished second in the beach flags, making the fair as soon as he landed at Lihue Airport. OK, off to Hanapepe to check out the road walk.
