LIHUE — Rose Manago is looking for donations to help with the battle against Alzheimer’s disease.
The eighth annual garage and bake sale will be hosted by the Walk to End Alzheimer’s team from the county’s Office of Elderly Affairs from 8:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 16 at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
People have until Aug. 11 to donate, Manago said.
“Last year, our Walk to End Alzheimer’s team, Memory Keepers, raised nearly $7,000 from the sale,” she said. “This year, our goal is $10,000, and with the help from people, I’m sure we can do this.”
Items available include clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, household goods, books and videos.
Special tickets for a giveaway quilt will be available at $5 each, or five for $20. Proceeds will go toward the Memory Keepers’ efforts with the Alzheimer’s Association. Walkers and teams for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s are being accepted for the walk scheduled Aug. 23 at the Kukui Grove Center.
Registration starts at 7 a.m., with the walk starting at 8 a.m.
