Officials are advising no swimming or snorkeling at Kee and Haena beaches due to strong currents and surf in the 6-10 range with occasional bigger sets, according to a county press release Wednesday morning.
Surf is smaller at Hanalei Bay today, roughly 1-4 ft., but the water appears to be brown and turbid. While no official “Brown Water Advisory” has been posted, as a safety precaution, beachgoers are advised to stay out of brown waters.
All North Shore beaches west of the Hanalei Pavilion to Kee Beach were closed to swimming Tuesday due to high surf conditions and strong currents. Ocean Safety officials reported wave heights of up to 12 feet in those areas.
