Maxima Gaines
Maxima Negrillo Gaines of Hanamaulu passed away at home on October 10, 2014, at the age of 65. She was born in La Union, Philippines on October 1, 1949, and retired from Bank of Hawaii as a bank teller.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Otis Gaines Sr. of Hanamaulu; daughter, Leilani (Andrew) Ojinaga of San Diego; son, James (Rochelle) Gonzales of Lihue; step-daughters, Tasheka (Reginald) Norman of Colorado, Cachira Gaines of California; step-son, Gary Otis Gaines Jr. of Maui; 7 grandchildren, brothers, Feniano (Carmen) Negrillo, Cipriano (Shirley) Negrillo, Ramon (Glean) Negrillo; sisters, Teresa Bailey, Patricia Negrillo, Maria (Chito) Zabala, Vicky (Cecilio) Redaus, Mel (Noli) Quiban; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014, at King’s Chapel in Hanamaulu with viewing from 5:00 p.m. and services celebrated at 6:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Gaines family with arrangements.
Seferino Ragasa
Seferino Charito Pagat Ragasa passed away on July 22, 2014 at Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines at the age of 61. He was born in Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
Preceded in death by his mother Rosalina Pagat Alquiza, maternal grandparents Juan Pagat and Selvestra Salviejo Pagat, paternal grandparents Catalino Ragasa and Martina Ibe Ragasa, and sister in law Yolanda Ragasa, and step-brother in law, Virgilio Nartatez.
He is survived by his father, Rosario Ibe Ragasa, step-mother Violeta Ragasa, siblings, Rosemarie (Mario) Dulatre of Lihue, Roger (Dina) Ragasa of Kekaha, Felymar Ragasa, Hanamaulu, Rheme (Cynthia) Ragasa of Puhi, Marfyn (Marlyn) Ragasa of Hanamaulu, Eldy (Annabel) Ragasa of Kapaa, step-siblings, Leonora Nartatez of Oahu, Susan Nartatez of Molokai, Alfonso Nartatez of Kapaa, Christopher (Lori) Nartatez of Molokai, , Nida (Franz) Langer of Molokai, caregiver Simo (Piña) Pagat, Maricel Pagat, Rizalina Pagat, Emelyn Pagat and Lovely Joy Pagat of Philippines numerous nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles and cousins.
Viewing are scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 8 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihue, Kauai. Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with burial to follow at Lihue Cemetery in Lihue.
Stacy Meadows
Stacy Lynne Flazer Meadows of Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii passed away on October 13, 2014 at the age of 50. Born on March 13, 1964 in Kailua, Oahu she was formally a clerk at Kauai Medical Clinic
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert and Ella Fo and is survived by her husband, Daniel “Danny” Meadows, Kaneohe, sons, Ryan (Krystle) Nishii, Kaneohe, Reyn (Jocelyn) Nishii, San Diego, daughter, Danylyn Meadows, Kaneohe, parents, George and Carolyn Flazer, Kaneohe, sister, Shelley Flazer, Kaneohe, brother, Shannon (Lei) Flazer, Kaneohe, numerous Aunties and Uncles and nieces and nephews and cousins and friends.
There will be a private celebration of life. Arrangements were made by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Koloa, Kauai.
Kathryn Lee
Kathryn Sara Lee of Lihue passed away at home on October 16, 2014, at the age of 92. She was born in Dixon, Illinois on March 28, 1922, and retired as a secretary with Carpenters Local 790 and Laborers Union.
She is survived by her five children, Linda Lopatka (Edward-deceased), Patrick Lee (Judy), Kathy Bento (Larry), Robert Lee (Connie), Rebecca Kruse (Bradley); 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 9:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m.

Burley LuVell Benford Shanawo
Burley LuVell Benford Shanawo died on October 11, 2014 at home at the age of 75. Born on December 7, 1938, in Los Angeles, California, he was a Grandmaster Martial Artist and musician.
He is survived by his former wife, E. Renee Janton; his two sons, Suki of Kauai and Stefan of California; two daughters, Wendy Williams of Hawaii and Galinda Gonelli of Hawaii; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Freddie (Ernest) Howard of Sacramento, California; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held.
