Island School’s Deanna Sloger was hoping to duplicate her feat from practice Wednesday.
“I broke 200,” said Sloger, who was crowned the 2014 Miss Kauai Veteran Wednesday. “I was hoping to break 200 at the meet.”
But that did not happen as Sloger stumbled in the kneeling phase, ending with a 42 toward her total 186 (82 prone, 42 kneeling, 62 standing).
The total still put her in the scoring unit, but Kapaa girls outscored Island School, 1036-955. The Kapaa boys came up 13 points better than the Island School marksmen, 1021-1008 for a sweep at its home range on the Kapaa High School campus.
“Congratulations goes out to both the Kapaa boys and girls for defeating Island School,” said Sean Magoun, a coach with the Voyager teams. “It was a well-shot match on both sides, and several shooters on both teams were proud of their final match.”
Ashley Silvestre (84-88-55-227) topped the Island School girls followed by Sloger, and Aliana Ho (87-61-38-186) who finished in a tie with the new queen representing the veterans.
Amanda Nguyen (72-73-40-185) followed a point back with Emma Schneck (76-48-47-171) rounding out the scoring unit.
Other Voyager women on the line included Alex Obert (68-46-49-163), Hannah Whelan (59-66-28-153) and Lauren Oelke (87-61-38-169).
Breannah Kaleiohi led the Kapaa girls’ win, marking 210 (83-63-64) followed by Karyn Koko (82-74-52-208) tying with Janice Manique (74-75-59-208). Geivelle Mabiog (80-71-56-207) followed a point back with Deidre (Andaya (77-71-55-203) rounding out the scoring unit.
Other Warrior wahine on the line included Selena Rivera (77-63-54-194), Alohi Chun (76-54-40-170) and Larissa Tsai (74-73-40-187).
Island School’s Tavares Tanner (86-78-70-234) had the highest score for the boys’ range, including the day’s high 70 in the standing position, but Island School could not take the lead in the boys’ competition.
Stephen Foster followed at 211 (83-64-64) followed by Eosin Chelius (72-75-61-208), Michael Chung (84-49-46-179) and Jonas Coleman (78-61-37-176) made up the Voyagers’ scoring unit.
Other Voyager men on the line included Reece Valencia posting a 145 (70-64-11-145).
Levi Eualio topped the Kapaa boys’ scoring with a 217 (83-77-57) followed by Ian Kimura (91-66-57-214), Mavric Yadao (84-68-55-207), Joven Gouvia (75-68-52-195) and Mason Tabura (75-65-48-188).
Other Warrior boys on the line included Zyron Albite-Ruiz (59-58-51-168), Kalai Cacal (65-69-42-176) and Imani Tokuda (76-63-39-178).
