Many hands working is the translation of Na Lima Hana, a series of Hawaiian cultural educational events, food events, and culture-based entertainment.
“Every day my umeki fills up and I have something to share,” is how Ernell Gonzales, sales assistant at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa described the late Aunty Stella Burgess’ philosophy of sharing culture during the blessing of Mala Maluhia, or the Garden of Tranquility, situated right outside of the Grand Ballroom.
Sandy Kato-Klutke of the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association, Kauai Branch, said Burgess was a key to getting Na Lima Hana off the ground 10 years ago.
“We went to a conference where we saw this in action,” Kato-Klutke said. “But we can’t fly everyone there, so we brought it, here.”
