Stella Mission
Stella Sylvia Mission of Makaweli died on October 16, 2014, at home at the age of 74. Born to George and Bertha Simao on October 19, 1939, in Makaweli, Kauai, she was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her brother Dennis (Edna) Simao and brother-in-law Samuel Sr. Calves.
She is survived by her husband, Francisco Mission; two sons, Francis “Bully” (Laura) Mission Sr., and Clifford (Norma) Mission; three daughters, Dawn (Rudy) Bagain, Sylvia (Gerard) Lagazo and Lisatte (Tony) Pajela, all of Kauai; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother George (Margaret) Simao of Ele’ele; sister Patricia Calves of Puhi; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on November 15, 2014, at Garden Island Mortuary. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested and to please omit flowers.

Ricardo Salvador Manuel of Hanamaulu, Kauai, passed away on November 4, 2014, at his home in Hanamaulu, Kauai at the age of 91. Born on July 18, 1923, in the Philippines. He was a Retired Laborer with Lihue Plantation.
Preceded in death by his parents Juan and Potenciana Manuel, son Mario Manuel, brother Santiago Manuel and his sister Natalia Melchor.
He is survived by his wife: Gracia “Grace” Yago Manuel, 4 daughters: Marciana “Marcy” Fermin, Yolanda “Linda” (Regoberto) Erorita, Imelda “Mely” Manuel, Grecean Manuel, 2 sons: Rolando”Lando” (Maxima) Manuel, Raymund Manuel, 5 sisters: Paulina Hernando, Carlina Fermin, Avelina Pascual, Rosita Dumbrique, Caridad Simeon, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church from 8 to 9:45 am. Where mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihue Cemetery.

Patricia Smith Rice of Kipu, Kauai, Hawaii, Passed away on October 29, 2014, at her home at the age of 102. Born on January 19, 1912, in Brush, Colorado. She was the president of William Hyde Rice, Ltd. and a Rancher.
Preceded in death by her parents, Anders and Mary Smith, husband, Charles Rice.
She is survived by her son, Robin (Anna) Rice, Lihue, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel, Koloa. Service at 10 a.m.

Dorothy Ornellas
Dorothy L. Ornellas of Kapaa, Kauai, passed away on November 2, 2014, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. Born on August 3, 1929, in Lihue, Kauai, she was a Homemaker.
Preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Dorothy Nui, daughter Jodine Silva and her sister Angline Maka.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Ornellas, Jr.; 3 daughters: Sheila (William) Richbow, Cozie Whitfield, Carlene (Roland) Watson; 4 sons: Joseph David Ornellas, Mathew Ornellas, Quintin (Alma) Ornellas, Milton (Debbie) Ornellas, 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers: Peter (Yvonne) Yray, William (Rio) Yray, Gilbert Yray, Alexander Yray; 1 sister: Lilian (Patrick) Pauline; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 10 to 10:45 a.m., where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens will be at 1:30 p.m.

Malcolm Stransky
On October 23, 2014, Malcolm W. Stransky, Mac, joined his dearest wife Winnie in heaven. Born April 29, 1912, he was 102 and a half years young. While attending Oregon State University he met the love of his life Winnifred, a home economics major. They married in 1939 on Winnie’s 22nd birthday.
After getting a BS in mechanical engineering and a MS in chemical engineering together they moved to San Francisco and later to San Jose, CA., where son Jack was born. They set deep roots in Redwood City, CA., where Mac build his own home and welcomed daughter Lynn.
Mac ran large factories which built then technologicly innovative upscale heating systems and built-in vacuum cleaners, which he invented.
In retirement after moving to Los Osos and later to Arroyo Grande, CA., Mac and Winnie traveled all over America by RV. They also spent winter months enjoying Mammoth Lakes and Death Vally CA, square dancing, hiking, meeting up with snowbird friends, relatives and college roommates.
Married 68 years, Mac and Winnie are now young again and together with relatives, friends and young son Kim.
Malcolm is preceded in death by his beloved wife Winnie, his parents Joe and Mable Stransky; sisters Mildred Judd and Ardice Stransky; brother Waldo Stransky, all from Oregon; 2 year old son Kim Stransky, CA; brother-in-law Walter Brown, Santa Rosa, CA., and many, many friends.
He is survived by his son Jack (Annette) Stransky, Saratoga CA; daughter Lynn (David) McLernon, Koloa, Kauai; sisters-in-law Phyllis Brown, Santa Rosa, CA., and Jackie Darstein, Seattle, WA.; nieces Sheryl (John) Fabianek, Anacortes, WA.; Pam Wooster, WA.; Terralyn Barfield, Santa Rosa, CA., and nephew Tod (Andrea) Brown, Woodinville, WA., plus loving helpers Petra Ione, Cheryl Amyx, Shelby Simms, his attentive doctor Craig Netzer and team and John Black DDS and team. Mahalo nui loa to KFD Koloa, AMR, KPD and Wilcox Hospital’s great ER team.
Mac taught us all much: Marry Well, Work Hard and Always Smile and Laugh, even if you can’t hear or understand what’s being said. We will all miss Mac’s big smile, heart-felt laughs, big shaka waves and Ray Ban cats.
No formal services are planned.
Allan Iwamoto
Allan Takeo Iwamoto of Aiea, Oahu passed away at his residence on October 10, 2014, at the age of 69. He was a retired Roberts Hawaii tour bus driver.
He is survived by his wife, Saiki Iwamoto of Aiea; brothers Robert N. (Arlene) Iwamoto, Jr. of Honolulu, Sonny M. Iwamoto of Lihue; sisters: Arleen H. Contrades of Lihue and Linda A. (Howard) O’Hara of Lihue, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, November 15, 2014, from 4 p.m. at Hosoi Garden Mortuary, memorial service at 5 p.m. Aloha attire is suggested.
