Epifanio Batangan
Epifanio Villia Batangan of Lihue passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on September 30, 2014, at the age of 86. He was born in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on April 4, 1928, was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. He retired from McBryde Sugar Company and the Sheraton Poipu Beach Hotel.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Emilie and infant Edna; parents, Lorenzo and Ursola Batangan; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christina; sons Edwin of Costa Mesa, California and Reuben (Lyla) of Kahului, Maui; daughter, Elsie (Glenn) Perry of Kailua, Oahu; five grandchildren, Kelson, Jarin, Megan, Justin and Jordan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia with viewing from 8:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Batangan family with arrangements.
Mary Miyano
Mary Hisaye Miyano of Portland, Oregon, previously of Kauai and Honolulu passed away on November 13, 2014, at the age of 92. She was born on November 15, 1921 in Lahaina, Maui, and was a dedicated homemaker.
Mitsuo Miyano, her husband of 43 years preceded her in death in 2008.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in law, Doreen and Bob Harunaga-Ewing; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and JoAnn Harunaga; niece, Linda Alexander; and nephew and his wife, Warren and Paige Wakiyama, and their three children.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia with viewing from 8:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Catalina Parbo
Catalina Manzano Parbo of Waimea, Kauai passed away on November 18, 2014 at her residence in Waimea surrounded by her family and friends at the age of 70. Born March 25, 1944 in Batac, Ilocos Norte Philippines. She was a retired Field Technician at Syngenta Seed Kekaha.
Preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Isabel Manzano, son Edwin Parbo, Brother-in-laws Rizalino Parbo, Alfredo Parbo and Fernando Sayno.
She is survived by her husband Julio Parbo, daughter Luz (Orlando) Austria and daughter-in-law Melita. 4 grandchildren: Janice (Charlie) Bahet, Albert (Maybeline) Parbo, Evelyn (Ricardo) Parbo, Michelle (Alton) Austria. 3 great-grandchildren: Christian June Bahet, Charice Bahet and Ricardo Mederos Jr., 4 sisters: Flor Sayno, Juliana (Pedro) Cocson, Segundina (Hipolito) Pitpit, Lucena (Isidro) Ringor, 1 brother Virgilio (Celerina) Manzano, Sister-in-laws Virginia Parbo and Cornelia Parbo, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha from 8:00 to 9:45 a.m. Where mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Kekaha Public cemetery.
