LIHUE — Approximately 15 hikers who were stranded on the Kalalau Trail Monday night made their way out Tuesday as the stream receded to allow for them to cross.
Lifeguards with Ocean Rescue reported that around 15 hikers had come out of the trail by late morning. Kauai Fire Department’s Rescue 3, aboard Air 1, flew over the area and reported that individuals were able to cross the stream and hike back to the Kee Beach.
“An estimated 10 people were stranded yesterday, and roughly 15 walked out this morning without assistance,” said county spokeswoman Sarah Blane.
