Dyno is a sweet and courageous young man. He has been moving around foster care for some years after a lot of trauma and upheaval from his family. He is kind, quiet and really caring. He could use some love this Christmas, some DS games to play, and a cuddle blanket for his bed. He could use some support with his after school activities and his love for animals. We would like to send him to Critter Camp at the Humane Society, but we need some gas cards to get his family to Puhi.
Dyno’s story is just one of those who will receive help through The Garden Island/Zonta Christmas Fund that is underway. Through Christmas Eve, The Garden Island will share stories of families facing challenges who could use a little holiday cheer. Donations to the Christmas Fund will be distributed by Zonta Club members, who purchase gift certificates at appropriate businesses to help make their wishes come true. Each donated dollar is carefully recorded, accounted for and spent wisely. Volunteers make this program a reality. There are no paid administrators. Donations go to help individuals and families. The Garden Island/Zonta Christmas Fund was established in the early 1980s.
Anyone making a donation of $50 or more can have their picture presenting the check published in TGI. Only monetary donations can be accepted. Checks, payable to Zonta Club of Kauai Foundation, can be mailed to P.O. Box 3032, Lihue, HI 96766.

The following are more stories of people who could use help through The Garden Island/Zonta Christmas Fund. While the names have been changed, the situations described are real.
• Brothers Dale and Roy are living with their mom and their extended family. They have very few visits with their dad as he lives on the Mainland. These brothers are also witnesses of domestic violence, but are creative and active. They love Legos and art supplies.
• Kai is a young man who has been in foster care for many years due to drug use and neglect from his mother and father. He is rambunctious and loves to play with everything. He could us a mini trampoline to play with in his new foster home, as well as some new school supplies to start the New Year. Any special toys he can call his own like cars or Bayblades would be great fun for him.
• Ms. Paisley is a kind, generous and friendly 83-year-old. She lives a simple life, partly due to her lack of finances at this time. She would love to spend more time with her children and their families, but due to circumstances is unable to do so. Any help to brighten this senior’s holiday would be a welcome surprise.
