Acoustic duo Laurie Lewis and Tom Rozum return to Kauai’s North Shore Friday at the Church of the Pacific in Princeville.
Lewis, “queen of bluegrass,” and Rozum have recorded 15 albums and performed around the globe since forming a musical partnership in 1986 when Tom first joined Laurie’s acclaimed band, “Grant Street.”
“Together on stage, Tom and Laurie transport you on a wave of musicality that will fill your ears and feed your heart,” a press release said.
Lewis is one of the pre-eminent bluegrass and Americana artists of all time. She plays violin, guitar and bass, sings and writes music. She has recorded with Linda Ronstadt, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas and other noted musicians.
Lewis has twice been named Female Vocalist of the Year by International Bluegrass Music Association, has won Best Country Album of the Year (Love Chooses You), won the California state fiddling championship, and sang the title cut of Grammy-winning album, “True Life Blues – Songs of Bill Monroe.”
Tom Rozum plays primarily mandolin, but is also an accomplished fiddle, mandola and guitar player.
His rhythmic approach especially punctuates the repertoire and his harmony vocals add depth and expression to their repertoire and Laurie’s originals.
