Rita Tangonan
Rita Cababat Tangonan of Kilauea passed away at home on January 18, 2015, at the age of 94. She was born in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines on May 18, 1920 and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Canuto Tangonan and son, Orlino Tangonan.
She is survived by one son, Abraham (Elvira) Tangonan; three daughters, Grace Bancud, Genoveva (Diosdado) Yabes, Myrna (Felix) Rodriguez; 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at St. Sylvester’s Church in Kilauea with viewing from 8:00 to 9:45 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Kealia.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Tangonan family with arrangements.
Kyoichi Kanekuni
Kyoichi Kanekuni of Kekaha passed away at KVMH on January 17, 2015 at the age of 91. He retired with Kekaha Sugar Company.
He is survived by his two sons, Steven (Dolly) Kanekuni of Kekaha and Jason (Tawnya) McMurray of Kekaha; one daughter, Joyce Parubrub of Las Vegas; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Roku Kanekuni of Kamuela, Big Island; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 1PM at the Veteran’s Cemetery Grounds in Hanapepe.

Samson Leones
Samson B. Leones of Puhi, Kauai passed away on January 10, 2015 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 85, born on July 7, 1929 in the Philippines. He was a Retired Laborer from Lihue Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Marylou Espacio, Magdalena Idaya, two sons, Samson Leones, Jr. & Saturnino Leones.
He is survived by his wife: Leonida Leones, 3 Daughters: Marelin (James) Barns, Vicky (Anthony) Reyes, Teresa Leones; 1 Son: Darwin Leones, 11 Grandchildren, 15 Great grandchildren, 2 Sisters: Maria Astrologio, Eusebia Silva, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday January 23, 2015 at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Again on Saturday January 24, 2015 at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa from 8:00 am to 9:45 am. Where mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at St. Raphaels’s Church Cemetery.

Louise Yates
Louise A.K. (Field) Yates of Kapa’a, passed away on January 16, 2015 at home surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 73. Born on October 14, 1941, in Honolulu, she was a pathology transcriptionist with Wilcox Hospital and Clinical Labs Hawaii.
She is survived by her daughters, Marcia (Michael) Buratti of Kapa’a and Monica Ka’auwai of Kapa’a; four grandchildren, Kalanikauleleiaiwi Ka’auwai, and Kalani, Rachel, and Emma Buratti; brother, David Field of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister Jewell Coté of Kamuela, Hawaii; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Louise’s life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the All Saints Episcopal Church at 9AM, officiated by Rev. Robin Taylor. Service begins at 10AM, with a private inurnment and refreshments to follow.

Yachiyo Uyeno
Yachiyo Uyeno of Kekaha, passed away on January 16, 2015 at the Regency at Pua Kea at the age of 99. Born on February 19, 1915, in Waimea, Hawaii, she was homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Ensley Uyeno of Washington; daughter, Sharon (Gene) Eberhart of Texas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held.
