Henry Peralta, Sr.
Henry Deodado Peralta, Sr. of Kekaha, Kauai Passed away on Jan. 6, 2015, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 95. Born on Jan. 5, 1920, in Kauai, Hawaii, He was a Retired Harvesting Supervisor for Kekaha Sugar Company.
He is preceded in death by his parents Doroteo Peralta and Marciana Maglangit; 3 brothers, John Peralta, Phillip Ongie and Vernon White; 1 sister Arsenia Castor.
He is survived by his wife, Trinidad Peralta; 1 son: Henry Peralta, Jr., 3 Daughters: Lucille (Dennis Wong) Peralta, Trinette (Ralf) Caliebe, and Marla (Malcolm) Fernandez, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015. at St. Theresa’s Church in Kekaha from 10 a.m. and mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Kekaha public cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Hiroko Nishimura
Hiroko Nishimura of Kalaheo died peacefully at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 3, 2015, at the age of 90. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on Jan. 1, 1925, she was a retired elementary school teacher.
She was preceded in death by husband, Shiro “Sally” Nishimura.
She is survived by her five sons, Wesley Nishimura of Honolulu, Steven Nishimura of Kalaheo, Randy Nishimura of Lihue, Lawrence Nishimura of Kalaheo and Wayne Nishimura of Lihue; Hanai son Billy Kaneholani of Anahola; 3 grandchildren, Chad, Bobbie and Lee; 5 great-grandchildren, Trevyn, Bryden, Blayze, Kiara and Brock; two brothers Harry Nojima of Honolulu and Lyman Nojima of Torrance, California; sister Florence Furuya; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private service is being held on Saturday, Jan. 17.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Hsiu Hsieh
Hsiu “Sue” C. Hsieh of Lawai, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on Dec. 28, 2014, at the age of 63. Born on May 6, 1951, in Changhua, Taiwan. She was the owner of Lawai General Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Okumura.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Keehn, Kalaheo; ex-husband, Rickey Mc Farland; sons, Kurtis (Melody) Mc Farland, Eleele, Kevin (Lisa) Mc Farland, Texas; daughters, Julie Mc Farland, Eleele, Jennifer (Kekoa) Makaneole, Puhi, 13 grandchildren.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at Saint John’s Episcopal Church, Eleele.
Visitation at 9:30 a.m., Service at 10 a.m.

Cesar Castro
Cesar C. Castro, born on April 20, 1951, of Los Angeles, CA passed away on Oct. 20, 2014, at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, Los Angeles, CA at the age of 63. He was a self employed electrician.
He is preceded in death by his father Sofronio Castro and mother Prudencia Clemente, brothers, Ret. Col. Felix (Frances) Castro, Hilario Castro, Sisters Beatrice Castro and Aurora Castro.
He is survived by his sister Leonora (Late Fausto Jr.) Bunao of Kapaa, Hawaii, Magdalena (Rolly) Osma of Manila, Phil., Remedios (Ben) Jamias of Manteca, CA., nephews Gregorio (Cresencia) Bunao, Leopoldo (Nellie) Bunao and niece Annabel (Eldy) Ragasa all of Kapaa. Numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at St. Catherine Church, Kapaa 8:30 a.m. Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Catherine Cemetery.
Anna Kona
Anna Mae Kona died on Jan. 3, 2015, at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 83 and born on July 1, 1931, in Makaweli, Kauai.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred P. Kona; son, Wallis W. Kona.
She is survived by her son, Joseph A. Kona (Margaret) of Waimea; three daughters, JoAnn I. Borja (Roy) of Waimea, Rosemarie Poirier of Waimea and Theresa Marie Manatad of Waimea; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, MaryJane Cabral of Omao; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit at the gravesite with the family on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Hanapepe Public Cemetery with a celebration of life being followed at Lucy Wright Park in Waimea.

Nella Koetje
Nella Mae Koetje, age 88, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015.
She is survived by her husband Casper; and her children: Camella Cheslek, Carl and Ami Koetje, Joel and Kendall Koetje, and Mark Koetje; 11 grandchildren: 10 great-grandchildren. Brother Joseph and wife Verna Betten, and 3 sisters in law; Char, Esther, and Marlene Betten.
She is preceded in death by three brothers: Tony, Hank, and Red Betten; and two sisters, Marge Boelkins and Jean Helder.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Raybrook Manor Chapel, Grand Rapids, Michigan, with Rev. Gene De Jong officiating. Memorials may be given to Grand Rapids Christian High School, 2300 Plymouth Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49506.
