Several people were sentenced for various violations Wednesday by Judge Kathleen Watanabe of the 5th Circuit.
– Clyndon Yago, 28, of Lihue, was sentenced to nine months in jail and four years probation for felony theft and passing nearly $10,000 in bad checks to two credit card companies and to Costco. He reportedly had an $800-a-week drug habit and was writing credit card checks for cash or purchase of items he would later return for cash.
Watanabe said Yago did not receive the prison term in part for the lack of a criminal record. She also required completion of Kauai Drug Court as a condition of probation, along with paying restitution to the victims.
– Rexford Charles Cahill, 24, of Kilauea, was given 90 days jail for violating probation. He failed to appear for a random urinalysis order, which occurred just one month after getting out of jail after 255 days served.
Cahill was sentenced to HOPE (Hawaii’s Opportunity Probation with Enforcement) for close supervision of high-risk offenders for attempted second-degree theft, second-degree forgery and fourth-degree theft.
w Shiloh Moanakai Kaneakua, 32, was sentenced to 45 days for violating probation. Kaneakua was convicted of unauthorized entry and theft of a moped on Dec. 15, 2013.
– Jordan Manuel Nobuo Rocha, 21, of Lihue, was sentenced to one year in jail for an unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle conviction. He reportedly watched and assisted someone in repairing a moped and returned that evening to ride away before being arrested on March 18, 2013.
Rocha will receive 330 days credit for time served. He also has a no-contact order with the victim.
