Emi Schaefer
Emi Doi Schaefer of Kalaheo passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on January 3, 2015 at the age of 90. She was born in Kalaheo, Kauai on February 18, 1924. She was a store clerk at Doi Store (family ran business) and later at Tanaka Plumbing before retiring.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Philip Schaefer of 70 years and her parents Raisuke and Kikuya Doi. Also preceded in death is brothers Toshio, Kenji, Isami and Raiso Doi and sisters, Asako Yamada, Shegako Kawakami, Yoshiko Matsumoto and Shizuko Tanaka.
She is survived by son Jace (Marilyn) Schaefer of Kauai and daughter Geraldine Tom (Herbert) of Oahu. She is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of her life will be held at Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery on February 7, 2015 where she will rejoin her husband John. Family requests no flowers and no koden.
