Kaeo Bradford (her brother is the kumu for Kula Aupuni Niihau Kahelelani Aloha) brought her two visiting Okinawa students, Mayu Nakamine and Yuka Miyagi, to have “some real local food” Sunday at the Kaumualii Celebration. Mahalo to Chris Faye (She said the sakura are blooming) for painting a picture of Kamualii’s connection to Waimea.
Thomas Nizo was having fun with Coach Guy Ishihara (Coach Kirk Correa wants a copy of that photo with the smoked meat), and kudos to Puni Patrick on a great launch of the Waimea Town Celebration.
Kudos to Ahonui Newcomb on coordinating the Makahiki games. John Kaohelaulii had people concentrating on konane (exchange student Niklas Hirsh of Germany got it down!) while listening to the mele and dialog of the plays.
Mary Lardizabal (she’s about ready to leave for the Heritage Music Festival) was busy trying to get Keikilani Lindsey to come over for the North Shore Relay for Life, and was nice to see former TGI editor Chris Cook who wanted to take in the plays.
