WAILUA — The Shrine Club brought Pop Warner football to Kauai.
“We understand that it was funds from the Shrine Club which enabled Kauai to get equipment and the Pop Warner football program started,” said Placido Valenciano, treasurer of the Kauai Officials Association. “With that in mind, the Kauai Pop Warner Football League annually holds a Shrine Game in November where proceeds benefit the Shriners.”
Valenciano presented a check for $800 to Stanton Pa, president of the Kauai Shrine Club, during the club’s meeting at the Brick Oven Pizza in Wailua.
“This represents more than the 2013 game where we turned over $550,” Valenciano said. “Last year’s game brought in $800 and we are proud to contribute this on behalf of the KPWFL for the work your organization does on Kauai.”
The Shriners, in addition to their presence in parades aboard their Tin Lizzys, are known for their care to children with a host of orthapaedic, neuromusculoskeletal and neurodevelopmental disorders and diseases through the Shriners Children’s Hospital on Oahu.
