LIHUE — Planned Parenthood of Hawaii is merging with Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest.
“The PPHI Board and Leadership team has determined that partnering with PPGNW will further our ability to thrive in the current health care environment and ensure the continuation of Planned Parenthood in services across Hawaii,” said PPHI Board Chair, Joanna Amberger in a press release.
The two organizations signed an agreement on Feb. 18. The merger would create an expanded organization that will operate 28 health care centers across Hawaii, Alaska, Western Washington and Idaho.
“This is an exciting time. Together, we will be able to continue to provide the best access to care for those who need these services most across the great state of Hawaii,” said the CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest, Chris Charbonneau.
Last year, Planned Parenthood of Hawaii officials closed its walk-in office services on Kauai.
