POIPU — Longs Drugs in Poipu is on its way.
“Construction started about a month ago,” said Helaine Perel, general manager of The Shops at Kukuiula on Monday. “We received permission to include Longs in our latest rack card printing, and there are signs on the dust screens announcing its arrival.”
The construction of the Longs Drugs is at the south end of The Shops at Kukuiula in a formerly graveled area in the center.
Longs recently opened a new store in Waipouli, which has been well received. It also has stores in Lihue and Eleele and is one of the island’s most popular businesses. Residents enjoy the store’s produce lines, sales and service.
Longs corporate office declined to comment.
Jon Kaaihue, owner of Kauai Valet, will be starting service at The Shops at Kukuiula on April 1 to help with parking.
The valet service will initially operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 3 to 10 p.m.
