WAIMEA — Waimea Plantation Cottages, a coast-managed hotel announces two new additions to its hospitality team: Tim Alex as sales manager and Mary Kagawa Garcia as event coordinator. Together, they bring in-depth experience in leadership, sales, event management and more.
“Tim and Mary are invaluable members to our team at Waimea Plantation Cottages,” said Gregg Enright, general manager of Waimea Plantation Cottages. “They both showcase a love for the industry, enthusiasm and professionalism which work together to heighten the quality of services and experiences our hotel provides.”
Alex has spent the past 33 years working and living in Hawaii. With a background in advertising, Alex moved to hospitality sales in 2001 and has stayed there ever since. As sales manager of Waimea Plantation Cottages, he will spearhead sales and marketing efforts with key travel partners.
“Kauai has long been my favorite island with its lush landscape, great beaches, ocean activities, hiking and friendly people,” Alex said. “Waimea Plantation Cottages provides an uncrowded, tropical setting paired with a laidback, old Hawaii feel. It is paradise and serenity in the truest sense and I couldn’t think of a place I’d rather work.”
Garcia was born and raised in Waimea and she started as an event coordinator in the hospitality industry in 1988 when she was hired as manager of the boats division at the Westin Kauai Resort. Garcia spent a year familiarizing herself with Waimea Plantation Cottages as restaurant manager of The Grove Dining Room where she organized local concerts.
“I think Waimea Plantation Cottages portrays the genuine ‘Aloha Spirit,’” Garcia said. “My goal is to help make people aware of Waimea Plantation Cottages’ comfortable and pristine setting while offering a glimpse into Kauai’s mellow way of life.”
