PUHI — J Robertson, chair of the Kauai Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, will be the interim director of the Kauai Chamber.
The announcement was made Monday at the Kilohana Estate following a meeting of the chamber’s executive committee.
Randy Francisco, 10-year chamber president and CEO, submitted his resignation effective April 30 last week. He has accepted a post with the County of Kauai as part of Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr.’s administrative team.
“Just as Randy moved the chamber ahead, the executive committee has established goals for the new president to move the Chamber forward,” Robertson said. “Each time the Chamber has had a new leader, it was an opportunity to grow. This is a great moment in time — for Randy, and for the Kauai Chamber of Commerce.”
Robertson said he will assume the interim leadership role, effective immediately. Francisco will serve with the chamber until his new county position starts on May 1.
The executive committee will select an interim director, who will replace Robertson while the search continues for a new chamber president and CEO.
An announcement on the interim director is expected in about a week.
Robertson said the executive committee also launched its search at the local and state level for the new president and CEO.
“We’ll have two people in the leadership position,” Robertson said. “But just one president. This is a transition time and Randy will have time to train the new interim director before leaving.”
