LIHUE — A dinner and concert to benefit Hokulea and its Malama Honua voyage will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, March 29 at Gaylord’s Restaurant at Kilohana.
Halau Ka Lei Mokihana o Leinaala, and Kumu Hula Leinaala Pavao Jardin welcome guests to join in honoring the Kauai crewmembers who have participated in the Malama Honua voyage of Hokulea. It will be an afternoon of traditional Hawaiian oli and dance, music and dinner on the Kilohana Plantation grounds.
“We are extremely excited and look forward to a beautiful evening of celebration,” said Kumu Hula Leinaala Pavao Jardin.
The event, Na Hoku Kau Ahiahi, serves as a token of appreciation to the Hokulea ohana, who travel around the world sharing a message of malama. It will be an opportunity to extend a mahalo to the keepers of Polynesian voyaging.
The halau is preparing to compete April 11-12 in Hilo. In addition, the group has elected Jayna Marie Shaffer to participate in the Miss Aloha Hula solo competition on April 9.
Reservations are required. Admission is a donation of $75 per person or a VIP table of six for $600.
For tickets, call Kumu Hula Leinaala Pavao Jardin at 639-9033 or Jade Waialeale Battad at 635-7549.
