Hildred K. Palea Kamaka
Hildred K. Palea Kamaka of Kekaha passed away on March 21, 2015, at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 77. Born on Dec. 12, 1937, in Waimea, Kauai, she was a homemaker and caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Kamaka, father, William Palea, and mother, Henrietta Nordmeier Palea.
She is survived by her sons, Kaneala and Kimo Kamaka, both of Kekaha; daughters, Danelle (Kaimi) Kamaka of Kekaha, Anna Kamaka of Kekaha, and Denise (Wilbur) Parubrub of Kaumakani, hanai daughters, Keikilani Dela Cruz of Waimea, Noelani Dela Cruz of Hanapepe, and Alaina Duarte of Waimea. Aunty Hildred was a childcare provider for over 40 years. She has many hanai children. Also surviving is her sister, Rhoda (Howard) Vinhasa of Ewa Beach; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on April 11 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Kekaha Ward). Viewing and services is from 9 am to 12 noon, with burial to follow at the Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery. Casual attire.
