Jane Vegas
Jane Vegas of Lawai passed away on April 4, 2015 at Garden Isle Healthcare at the age of 91. Born on September 21, 1923, in Koloa, Kauai, she was a Hawaiian Quilt Instructor with the County of Kauai.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Solomon F. Vegas, parents, Joseph & Candita Morris Figaroa, and brothers, Sarafin Figaroa and Joseph Figaroa, Jr.
Jane is survived by her sons, John S.F. (Judy) Vegas of Wailua, Joe (Janet) Vegas of Lawai, Charles (Betty) Vegas of Kalaheo, Bob (Angie) Vegas of Lawai, and Vincent (Josephine) Vegas of Kaumakani; daughters, Cathy (Dan) Counts of Lawai and Candy (Alan Mindoro) Vegas of Lihue; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on April 18, 2015 at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Koloa at 9 am. Mass by Deacon Tom Contrades will begin at 11am, followed by burial at Kauai Memorial Gardens. Casual attire suggested.

Yukiko Kubota
Yukiko Akazawa Kubota of Kalaheo, Kauai, passed away on March 9th, 2015, at Straub Hospital at the age of 87. Yukiko was born on October 1st, 1927 in Makaweli, Kauai.
Yukiko was preceded in death by husband, Nobuo Kubota and is survived by son Keith (Sharon) Kubota of Aiea, daughter Lorna (Steven) Freitas of Kalaheo. 7 grandchildren, Jocelyn (Hank) Barriga, Keven Freitas, Sheralyn (Sal) Hernandez, Serene Kubota, Jaclyn (Kihei) Fernandes, Reid Kubota, & Shealyn Freitas and 9 great-grandchildren. Sisters, MIsao Mori of Santa Barbara and Itsuko (Harry) Murabayashi of Lawai and brother Eugene (Jessie) Akazawa of Manoa.
Please join our family in a celebration of her life on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the Waimea United Church of Christ, Waimea, Kauai. Visitation at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m.

Arturo Dumaoal Sr.
Arturo Lazo Dumaoal Sr. passed away on March 24, 2015 at the age of 75, in Reno Nevada. He was born on August 2, 1939 in Marcos Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
Arturo is survived by his wife, Filipinas Manuel Dumaoal; 3 sons, Danilo (Flor) Mateo of the Philippines, Arturo (Grace) Manuel of the Philippines, Francis (Jenny) Dumaoal of Nevada; one daughter, Elizabeth (June) Dumaoal of Kauai; 10 grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A prayer will be held for the celebration of Arturo’s life on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 6pm at 5276 Aalona Street in Kilauea, (Rendens House).
Burial will be held in the Philippines at a later date.
Elizabeth Haluapo
Elizabeth “Makalapua” Haluapo of Omao passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 80. She was born on December 22, 1934, in Ahukini.
She is survived by her brothers, Edward Keoho Sr. of Kapa’a, Clifford (Dannette) Lee of Wailua, Francis Lam of Nanakuli, and David (Bruna) Lam of Waianae, and sister, Kathy (Matthew) Louis of Oma’o.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the Lihue First Church. Visitation begins at 9:00 am, followed by services at 10:00 am. Casual attire is suggested.

Marla Okazaki
Marla K. Hiranaka Okazaki of Lihue passed away at home on April 7, 2015, at the age of 57. She was born in Lihue, Kauai, on November 13, 1957, and was a Technician/Receptionist with Dr. Michael Oride, Optometrist.
Preceded in death by her father, Mamoru Hiranaka and husband, Wesley Okazaki.
She is survived by her mother, Bernice Hiranaka of Lihue; two brothers, Leslie (Lynn) Hiranaka of Wailua Homesteads and Russell (Cathy) Hiranaka of Manoa, Oahu; three nephews, Bradley, Sean-Michael and Brice Hiranaka; numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.

Mark Nagaoka
Mark Nagaoka of Kapaa, Kauai passed away on April 2, 2015 at home at the age of 65.
Born on July 17, 1949 in Lihue, Kauai, he was a retired store manager with Whalers General Store and Foodland.
He is survived by his son, Ryan Nagaoka of Kapaa, daughter, Ashley Nagaoka of Honolulu, brother, Ed Nagaoka of Manhattan Beach, CA, and sister, Judi Ishida of Kapaa.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai. Visitation at 9am, and memorial services with military honors at 10am. Reception to follow.
Inurnment will be at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe at 1pm.
