Alan Yamamoto scored a Kauai Kookie cap like the one worn by Norman Hashisaka so he wouldn’t have to put on the hairnet while accompanying Sen. Mazie Hirono on a tour of the Kauai Kookie kitchens.
Mabel Hashisaka said Lyle Kobashigawa was busy cooking up the luncheon (if I knew Caroline Manera Texeira and Rebecca Smith were going to be there, the stories could have waited) they were going to enjoy following the Kauai Coffee tour. But Mary Jane Kobashigawa was busy working in Hanapepe, helping Sen. Hirono and Sherry Menor McNamara with the manju-making.
The hands-on tour gave Yayoi Ishikawa, the Kauai Kookie graphic design artist, Randy Francisco and Wayne Inouye lots of photo ops.
Finally, Rev. Noriaki Fujimori of the Waimea Higashi Hongwanji just got through hosting a group of students from Fukushima (they were heading to a Moloaa B&B who offered the students a night’s stay). The students are still coping with the tsunami disaster and associated nuclear problems.
