Kauai’s new state-of-the-art biomass power plant will be the subject of the Lihue Business Association meeting April 23.
Randolph Singer, plant manager with the Green Energy Team, will talk about the nation’s first closed-loop biomass plant, a $90 million project that will supply 12 percent of Kauai’s energy needs while providing jobs and reducing dependence on imported oil. The plant, scheduled to come online within the next month, burns woodchips made from locally grown trees and replaces 3.7 million gallons of oil annually.
The meeting is 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Duke’s Canoe Club. It is free and open to the public.
