LIHUE — Students from Kauai schools earned high honors in the recent Hawaii State Science and Engineering Fair.
Twelve students attended the two-day competition on Oahu March 22-24.
Kapaa High School student Jenna Stone received $250 for the Best in Society of American Military Engineers, Honolulu Post Category. Kauai High student Kelly Kennedy received $100 for the Best in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources Alumni Association Category.
Kennedy also earned $50 for the Best in Hawaii Eye Foundation Category while Waimea High School student Kayla Ishida earned $50 for the Best in Emergency Amateur Radio Club Category.
Kauai High School student Jacky Lin placed third in the senior devision of the Best in Energy and Transportation Category. Waimea Canyon Middle School student Samantha Bostick was second place in the category’s junior devision.
Analani Bacon, Malachi Sacramento and Michael Anderson of Kapaa Middle School took third place for the Best in Engineering, Electrical and Mechanical Category.
The International Science and Engineering Fair will take place May 10-15 in Pittsburgh, with students Lin and Kennedy representing Kauai.
