Having the right mindset is so important for every decision we make. Whether it’s our health, career, work, school, friends, even relationships. If your mind is in the right place then you’re already half way to getting what you wish for. Your mind is so powerful when you know how to use it. But why do we so often forget to use the full power of our mind?
Actually, when I say “mindset” it sounds a little funny… Are body and mind not one? The answer: yes and no. Sometimes we don’t even realize that we are creating and commanding everything in our life. We are responsible for everything we do! But so often we forget that our body controls our mind.
Did you ever say “my body is so tired today,” or “my mind is busy I can’t think?” Are body and mind separate or together? How can we get control?
One way to get in the right mindset is just to be fully aware of what is really going on around you. Our life is a creation of the thoughts we think.
I know it sounds like I’m saying this is so easy. And you are right, it’s not easy, but it is also not impossible.
When you do this, you are practicing “mindfulness,” and you will get better each time you practice. Just remind yourself to do it on a daily basis. For example, if you realize you are eating your meal too fast, or you have stress, or even if you have a headache then stop for a moment and focus on your breathing. Why? Research shows that when you focus your attention just on your breathing you stabilize your mind, and you will become relaxed. You will have less stress. And you’ll eat less food too.
Remember, you will get more of whatever you focus on. So what happens if you’re focusing on your problems — will you get more of those too? Unfortunately yes, so try to focus only on what you really want. Maybe you want to be free from taking medication, or maybe you want to run a marathon, or lose weight – whatever your desire is, try not to focus on your problem, instead think of the solution.
When you focus on something you will push all your power and energy towards this, so by focusing on the results you want to achieve you will get what you want much easier.
So start now, and try to remind yourself every day to be more mindful. Try just closing your eyes for a moment and taking a deep breath before you start eating your meal, or when you take a phone call. Watch how much this will affect your behavior. Be aware of each moment and you will soon find yourself more grateful and positive.
Everything starts with a small step, but soon you will see big results.
