Do you really know what it means to be healthy?
If you look in the dictionary then it is defined as being well, fit, and in good shape. But the word health means different things to different people, depending on their situation.
Health is really measured by the level of functional or metabolic efficiency of a living organism. In order to be healthy you need to have a complete physical, mental and social well-being in balance.
Being physically healthy means that you are not carrying excess weight. You can move easily and lightly, sleep deeply, and feel energized all day long without needing medication and without pain. You will eat a good range of macronutrients (protein, carbs and healthy fats).
Remember it is your choice to live a healthy lifestyle!
Being mentally healthy means having a good relationship with your friends, your family and your environment. You shouldn’t have emotional or binge eating, and you should not need anxiety, depression or panic attack medication.
Your personal health also depends partially on the social structure of your life. Maintaining strong social relationships, helping other people or volunteering, and other social activities have often been linked to positive mental health and also to increased longevity.
One of the biggest causes of damage to our bodies is stress. While you are stressed your body actually stops repairing its cells.
Do you know what stress really is? Stress is resisting something. So whenever you resist to not “let go” you are giving more pressure and increasing your stress levels.
Yes, being healthy means a lot more than you think!
But always remember if you want to solve your problems, first you need to face them. You can do so much to improve your health by just giving it more attention. And don’t forget if you are healthy then you can easily take care of the people around you.
My idea of being completely healthy is that I am physically able to do everything I want to do. Whether carrying heavy shopping bags or running a marathon. But most important is my energy level and my positivity. If you always feel full of energy then you are healthy!
So ask yourself, what does being healthy mean to you, and are you really healthy?
