Kudos to Mary Ann Ornellas, Hale Opio, and all the organizations which contributed to the success of the 4th Teens Night Out Friday at the Kukui Grove Center.
Dolly Kanekuni (she’s a Shrekie) of the Hawaii Children’s Theater had the right idea of offering an option instead of “No!” Val Saiki (she’s still waiting for Gov. David Ige to sign the minimum age cigarette and e-cig bill) said Kauai has the highest incidence of teenage smoking (just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean they’re not doing it) in Hawaii, and Mary Ann said Kauai has the highest number of teen pregnancies in Hawaii.
El Doi had her anti-bullying message (Kalei Sahut’s artwork is now a backdrop for photos) out and Brittnee Pablo’s parents were able to print out the new Kauai Leaders Against Suicide shirts just in time for the event.
If it has to do with youth wellness and health (just in time for school letting out for the summer), Theresa Koki of Life’s Choices had to be there.
Have a safe and great summer, people (high school graduation is next Friday)! Check out www.thegardenisland.com for more photos.
