WAILUA — A Toyota pickup truck wound up in the ocean near the Wailua Golf Course on Monday.
The 24-year-old driver tried to clear an embankment on the beach in the location known as Kitchens when the vehicle overturned and rolled over twice before landing in the ocean.
The male driver sustained a laceration to his leg, but refused medical treatment at the scene. The two passengers who were in the vehicle were not injured.
The driver hired a recovery team to assist in removing the vehicle from the ocean.
The Department of Land and Natural Resources was also contacted regarding the incident.
