Kalaheo FC, a local youth indoor soccer club, will compete at the U.S. Futsal National Championships.
The local club earned its berth in the national tournament by winning the Hawaii State Futsal Championships on Maui this past weekend in the boys under-12 division.
Kalaheo FC defeated Pookela of Maui, 4-2, in the Hawaii championship game. Tied, 2-2, Kaeo Rezentes scored the go-ahead goal. Duke Bush then came off the bench to score one more for Kalaheo.
The clubs’s under-14 team lost, 7-6, in overtime to Maui United ‘01 in the championship game. The U14 team finished the tournament runner-up.
The U.S. Futsal National Championships begin July 16 in Anaheim, California, in conjunction with Disneyland’s 60th anniversary.
Kalaheo FC U12 team: Tyler Hawthorne, Dwight Apao, Mason Hunt, Carlos Steinhaus, Kaeo Rezentes, Duke Bush and Connor Mackenzie.
Kalaheo FC U14 team: Shayden Duldulao, Aikala Chapell, Ben Griep, Connor Hunt, Laa Gonzalves, Andrew King and Whitney Lugo.
