LIHUE — Kauai High School’s Jamie Amimoto fired a 1-under par Friday to finish tied for fourth at the David S. Ishii Foundation Hawaii High School Athletic Association golf championships at the Waikoloa Resort-Kings Course on the Big Island.
Amimoto, who fired an even par 72 on the opening day, Thursday, came back from fifth place to finish tied for fourth and lead the Kauai boys team to finish fifth out of nine teams with a combined 626 (318-308).
Punahou, finishing at 2-under par 576 (290-286), took the competition followed by Moanalua (298-296-594), Iolani (304-304-608), and Baldwin (301-312-613) ahead of the Kauai Red Raiders.
Spencer Dunaway topped the individual golfers, firing a 3-under par 69 during the final round to end 5-under par at 139 (70-69). He was followed by Kyosuke Kevin Hara (71-71) and Andrew Chin (70-72) tied for second and Amimoto (72-71) and Kengo Aoshima (71-72) tied for fourth at 143, a stroke back of Hara and Chin.
Following Amimoto, Anthony Jude Apalla (88-80), Keith Jose (77-82), and Trevor Kua (81-75) contributed to the Kauai team scoring.
Kapaa’s Bryden Salvador, earning a spot in the state as an individualist, finished tied for 23 at 153 (77-76). Kainalu Gandia, also of Kapaa, finished tied for 68th with a 170 (86-84).
