Risa Whetzel is not old enough to drive a car, but is already steering boats, said Lois Andersson Thursday.
Risa has been piloting Weatherly during the Nawiliwili Yacht Club shoreline series (wow! got to see Sharron Weber and Jodi Gardner all in one race!), and is in good shape heading into the NYC Junior Invitational Series which starts in two weeks, where at least one of the boat’s crew needs to be a junior.
Glenn Molander reminds all boaters that National Safe Boating Week on Kauai starts today and the USCG Auxiliary will offer free boat inspections near the launch ramp at the Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor from noon until 5 p.m. Seth Carter, Officer in Charge at the USCG Station Nawiliwili, said limited tours of the Coast Guard facility are also available.
Wayne Tanji (no Gary Pacheco in sight) was busy helping at the M. Kawamura Farms home and garden expo, and Alan Yamamoto is back. James Yamamoto, Gilbert Cabot, and a lot of the Troop 83 leaders were also helping with the parking duty, and Ed Kawamura demonstrated his skill at getting Charlie Taba to contribute to the Disabled Veterans fund.
