William “Coach Bill” Arakaki, the Kauai Area Complex superintendent, was enjoying the Kauai Interscholastic Federation track and field championships with the principals of Kauai’s three public high schools — Daniel Hamada (remember when he used to whack weeds on the cliffs by Eleele School?), Anne Kane and Mahina Anguay Friday night at Vidinha Stadium.
It’s nice to see these leaders be able to enjoy the activity without talking shop.
Congratulations to Coach Bill on Kailee Arakaki winning first place in not just the girls 100-meter, but also the girls 200-meter races! Bill said having all the principals present brought back memories of the “good old days” when his sons Jonathan and Justin took medals in the 110 high hurdles, the 300 hurdles and the 4×400 relay.
Kudos to Jon Kobayashi and all the athletic directors in pulling off a great event, and congratulations to Charles Samuel and the Kauai High School girls 4×400 relay team on the KIF records! Good luck at states!
