HANAMAULU — Laura Taylor was joined by 4D Media representatives when the Aloha Peace Project presented its first set of teaching DVDs for new volunteers to King Kaumualii Elementary School counselors on Tuesday.
“This is the transition year we have been working toward furnishing free, an effective character education program including bullying and cyber bullying to any elementary school on Kauai,” Taylor said. “The Aloha Peace Project will give each school using the program a set of teaching DVDs, all the supplies for implementing the Aloha Peace Project, and curriculum for grades kindergarten through Grade 5.”
4D Media has videotaped the 26 sessions where Aloha Peace Project volunteers work in various schools around Kauai, led by Serge Marcil, videographer, and Jennifer Marcil, 4D executive producer.
Taylor said schools in addition to King Kaumualii who utilize the Aloha Peace Project include the Kilauea Elementary School, Kapaa Elementary School, Eleele Elementary School and St. Catherines School. These schools will be receiving their teaching DVDs at the start of the next school year.
“We want to talk about Aloha Peace Project,” said Serge. “We have been following the development of this program, and want to be able to move forward to continue the effort and produce different support videos.”
Jennifer said 4D Media is seeking a grant writer to get funding to keep the project moving forward.
The Aloha Peace Project, a nonprofit organization under the Kapaa United Church of Christ for 15 years, is a non-religious character education program utilizing interactive activities to guide children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade on how to be good citizens.
