Koloa Plantation Days is celebrating its 30th year with the theme, “The Legacy Lives On,” July 17 – 26.
Over 30 events celebrate the plantation heritage and modern-day vitality of Kauai’s South Shore communities of Koloa and Poipu. During this 10-day family oriented festival, learn about Koloa’s multicultural history and the area’s unique ecological features and archaeological remnants. Area resorts, community groups, and businesses in the Poipu and Koloa area present these events.
Koloa Plantation Days is held on Kauai’s South Shore every year in July. The many ethnic groups that came to Hawaii to work on sugar plantations, and the Hawaiians who welcomed them are celebrated through music, dance, costumes, and food throughout this 10-day festival.
This is the 30th annual festival celebrating the community that came together to create the wonderful diversity of culture that make us what we are today.
This year, the committee is inviting the community before and during the festival to join a photo contest via a social media campaign, “Share the Memories.”
The community can celebrate as the “Legacy Lives On,” by entering to win great prizes by posting their photos of festivals past on their Facebook pages using #kpdsharethememories and #koloaplantationdays from now until July 16.
During the festival, attendees can use #mykoloaplantationdays when posting on their Instagram accounts.
The committee will be selecting photos that best represent the legacy of the last 30 years in the following Best Photo categories:
Sports & Activities; Keiki & Family Fun; Local Foods & Shopping; Island Culture & History; Celebration & Live Music; Parade Fun
