Aurora M. Lo

Aurora M. Lo, 84, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, June 20, 2015, at her home in Winfield.Born January 13, 1931, in Kaunakakai, Molokai, Hawaii, she was the daughter of Eusebio and Leonila (Enabore) Malapit. She was raised and received her education in Hanapepe, Kauai, and graduated from Waimea High School in 1948. She then attended the University of Hawaii. Aurora was united in marriage to August Lo on August 6, 1949, in Kauai, Hawaii. The couple made their home on the island of Oahu, and Aurora went to work as a secretary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Social Service where she remained until retiring in 1986. In October of 2014 the couple moved to Winfield, Kansas.

She was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for over 58 years. She held many callings over the years at the church including Young Women’s President, Relief Society President and Seminary Teacher. She loved music and enjoyed sharing this love with others as the director of many choirs. She also enjoyed doing arts and crafts. Her family was her passion, which made her the heart and catalyst, molding strong family values and bonds.

Aurora was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.

Her family includes her husband, August Lo of Winfield, KS; sons, Michael Lo and wife, Jocelyn of Saratoga Springs, UT; Russell Lo of Salt Lake City, UT; daughters, Laura Johnson of Orem, UT; Aurene Mallory; husband, Clinton of Baton Rouge, LA; Julie-Ann Lo and husband, Greg of Winfield, KS; and her 21 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2015, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas. Interment will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield.

Hannah M. Takata Martin

Hannah M. Takata Martin, of Kapaa, Kauai passed away on June 9, 2015, at the age of 76. Hannah was born on December 25, 1938, in Waimea, Kauai. She retired from her position as Laundry Attendant for Kauai Coconut Beach Resort.

She is preceded in death by her parents Koki and Chiyoko Takata of Waimea, Kauai, and her sister Katherine Hirayama of Los Angeles, California.

Hannah is survived by her daughter Candice (Steve) Cummings of Kapaa, Kauai; son, Reuben (Lori) Orial of Lihue, Kauai; six grandchildren, Kelsey (Shane) Lovell of Las Vegas, NV, Dawn (Michael) De Silva of Kapahi, Kauai, Kalin Cummings of Kapaa, Kauai, Bryson Cummings of Kapaa, Kauai, Shay and Tane Orial of Lihue, Kauai; eight great-grandchildren; Jesse Makena and Cassie Parongao, Troye and Janea Lovell, Nainoa, Pohakupili and Madison De Silva and Makoa Rubio-Cummings; brother, Sam (Elsie) Takata of Lihue, Kauai; sister, Mary (Billy) Robinson of Waimea, Kauai and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Hannah’s life will be held at Breath of Life Christian Ministries 4303 Rice Street Lihue, Kauai on June 27, 2015 Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m., followed by memorial services at 10 a.m.

Lily Kiilau

Lily Kalehuamakanoe Pia Kiilau of Hanamaulu passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 18, 2015, at the age of 79. She was born in Hanamaulu on February 25, 1936, and was a dedicated homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kiilau Jr., son, Charles Kiilau III; daughters, Moana Jean Asuncion, Maryann Lopes; brothers, George Pia, Joseph Pia and sister, Madeline Raymond.

Lily is survived by three daughters, Cindy (Yasu) Morikawa, Wendy-Lu (Warren) Frisbee, Leah (Jojo) Pillos; five sons, Danny (Lisa), Joseph “Poki” (Jane), Lance, George “Kaleo,” Kalani (Sadie); 29 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchild- ren, two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Cummings; three brothers, Hiram (Karen) Pia, Arthur Pia , John Pia and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints-Lihue Ward with viewing from 9:30 a.m. and services beginnings at 11:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.

John ‘Jack’ Cloud

John “Jack” Milton Cloud, 88, of Kapaa passed away on June 15, 2015. Jack was born in Hollywood and grew up in Manhattan Beach, California. He was a Los Angeles County Lifeguard, a radioman in the United States Coast Guard and earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from Loyola University. He was a past president of the Manhattan Beach Badminton Club. After working for Northrop Aerospace, he moved to the Siskiyou Mountains with his family to build vacation homes. Then, moved to Washington to become the chief contractor for Boise Cascade. Venturing out, he and his partner, J.K. Short, started Paragon Builders Inc. He was a craftsman, boat builder, actor, singer, adventurer and inventor of great things in California, Washington, Cabo San Lucas and Kauai. His highlight was playing ukulele with buddy Darrel and sipping Mai Tai’s created by Efran.

He is survived by his family, best friend and wife, Sharon; daughter, Toni (Wally); son, Dean (Cherie); grandsons, Ryan (Britt), Kelly and great-grandsons John and Austin.

Christopher R. Baird

Christopher R. Baird of Honolulu, born December 22, 1959, passed away in Honolulu on April 19, 2015 at the age of 55.

He is preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Lyle Baird.

Chris is survived by his mother, Graceleanor Baird; wife, Michelle Kapana-Baird; son, Nanea; sisters, Catherine (Polly Rowland) Baird, Cynthia (Lyle) Ceballos and numerous nephews and nieces

A Celebration of his life will be held on Kauai for Family and friends at Plantation Cottages, Waimea, on June 28, 2015, at 4 p.m.

Hiroshi Murashige

Hiroshi Murashige of Lihue passed away at home on June 10, 2015, at the age of 96. He was born in Hanamaulu, Kauai on October 30, 1918, and retired from the County of Kauai as the Chief Building Inspector.

Hiroshi is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Murashige; brothers, Fred and Les and daughter-in-law, Stacy Nishina. He is survived by two sons, Brian (Sandy) Murashige and Les Murashige; one grandson, and one great-grandson; nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Lihue Christian Church with visitation from 10 and services celebrated at 11 a.m. Family suggests aloha attire and graciously declines flowers and Koden. Randal Haruto Yamamoto

Randal Haruto Yamamoto of Wailua passed away at home on June 5, 2015, at the age of 58. He was born in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii on October 1, 1956, and was employed by Hawaii Food Alliance as a warehouse manager.

Preceded in death by his father, Daniel Yamamoto and sister Crystal Pia.

He is survived by his wife, Aileen Okikawa Yamamoto; daughter, Carleen Yamamoto; sons, Troy and Derek Yamamoto; mother, Fujiko Yamamoto; four sisters, Debbie (Glen) Taba, Gail (Dwayne) Sandberg, Joy (Roy) Kamanu, Joan Yamamoto; two brothers, Glen (Rebecca) Yamamoto, Keith (Janice) Yamamoto and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-Lihue Ward with visitation from 3 and services celebrated at 4 p.m.

Private inurnment to be held at a later date.

Kaaiohelo Nobrega-Olivera

Kaaiohelo Nobrega-Olivera was born a stillborn on June 8, 2015, in Waimea, Kauai to her parents Gina Malia and Victor Nobrega-Olivera of Hanapepe Valley, Kauai.

Kaaiohelo is preceded in death by her uncles, Mark Nobrega and Buddy Racoma, and her grandfather, Gilbert Nobrega Jr.

Kaaiohelo is survived by her parents Gina Malia and Victor Nobrega-Olivera and her sister, Genoa; her grandparents, Rosalyn Nobrega (Hanapepe Valley), Frances Lokelani Racoma (Kailua), and Victor Olivera Sr. (Kaneohe), and numerous aunties, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the Hanapepe Hawaiian Cemetery at 1 p.m.

The family is being assisted by Borthwick Kauai.

Norman L. Young

Norman L. Young of Kekeha, Kauai passed away on June 16, 2015, at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 85. He was born on May 27, 1920, in Hawaii. Norman was a retired musician.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Betsui Young; daughters, Norma Jean Snyder and Susan K. Kuhl; sister, Mildred Tom as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday June 30, 2015, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 10 till 10:45 a.m. where memorial services will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Jerry Kamehala Kaneholani Sr.

Jerry Kamehala Kaneholani Sr. of Kapaa passed away at home on June 3, 2015 at the age of 62. He was born Lihue, HI, on July 15, 1952. He enjoyed playing music around the island and helping anyone he could in any way possible. Jerry was a tram driver for Smith’s Tropical Paradise before working at the Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center as a community outreach worker with children, leading Wood Carving Classes, Coconut weaving and Ukulele Classes.

Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Kelii Kaneholani Sr., mother, Elizabeth Sarah Kaneholani, brothers, Herbert S., George, David and Harry Kaneholani and sister, Rosemary Sanay.

Jerry is survived by his son, Jerry Kamealoha Kaneholani Jr. of Puhi, HI, godson, Alan (Alison Leimomi Lovell) Akira Takenaka Jr. of Kapaa; hanai daughters, Cassandra “Ulu” Tupou of Wailua, Esther Kalei (Rick Rego) Cardinez of Kapaia; twin brother, Billy Kaneholani of Anahola; brothers, John (Leila) Kaneholani, Daniel (Evangaline) Kaneholani, Clement Kaneholani all of Anahola; sisters, Olinda Higashi of Anahola, Midge Asai and Miriam “Honey Girl” Kupihea of Kapaa, Olandra Kaleiohi of Lihue, Tatiana (Terry Ryan) Kaneholani of San Francisco and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at the Anahola Clubhouse on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 4 p.m. Private scattering of Jerry’s ashes will be held at a later date.

Marcelina Damaso

Marcelina Damaso of Hanamaulu passed away on June 17, 2015, at Garden Isle Health Care at the age of 68. Born on July 12, 1946, in Dingras Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was custodian with Kapaa Middle School.

She is survived by her brothers, Epifanio (Lydia) Damaso of Hanamaulu, Rustico Damaso (Marie Vic Cabigting) of Hanamaulu, Almirante (Nena) Damaso of Kona, Gamaliel (Margilyn) Damaso of Kona, and Bernabe (Trina) Damaso of Hanamaulu; sisters, Susana (Rogelio) Bulo of Philippines, and Eupricina (Arsenio) Garcia of Philippines; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may visit with the family at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai on Saturday, June 27, 2015. Visitation will begin at 9 with blessing at 11 a.m.

Family suggests casual attire and is open to flowers.

Delia Dela Cruz

Delia Tarape Dela Cruz of Hanamaulu passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on May 21, 2015, at the age of 59. She was born in the Philippines on June 6, 1955, and retired as a housekeeper from the hotel industry.

She is survived by her son, Ariel (Chris) Tira of the Philippines; two sisters, Anna Yanos and Lillia Sanchez; two brothers, Rodrigo Tarape and Cipriano Tarape; nieces and nephews.

Family will hold services in the Philippines.
