A push of a button can help Monkeypod Jam, a local business, advance to the next step toward a $100,000 grant from Mission Street Grants, said Aletha Thomas, owner and operator of the small business.
Deadline for voting is June 19, and Thomas encourages people to help her business grow by voting at www.missionmainstreetgrants.com/b/60297.
Monkeypod Jam has submitted an application outlining its business plan for the $100,000 grant. To be eligible for further consideration, Chase Mission Main Street Grants must receive at least 250 votes.
Following the June 19 deadline, grant recipients will be selected by expert panelists.
“The gift of a $100,000 grant would be a complete game-changer for Monkeypod Jam’s growth,” Thomas said in an email. “For the past five years, we have been researching mchinery which will allow our team to process fruit more efficiently and with less labor.”
Thomas envisions the new processing equipment would allow Monkeypod Jam, starting out as a one-person operation in Thomas’ kitchen, to reduce labor costs which would result in lower wholesale prices, and increased sales.
Monkeypod Jam wholesales to select retail outlets across Kauai, Hawaii, and the Mainland.
The 20 grant recipients will be announced in September.
