KALAHEO — Kanu Elite, division 3 boys, used the three-ball to stay ahead of Team Lihue Thursday night during the Kaulupono Summer Basketball League at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
With a point-margin of at least 10 points, Kanu held off Team Lihue in the final minutes for a 31-27 win behind high-point honors from Kamakana Gonsalves and Maluhia Kauhane, who each pocketed eight points, including two treys each from Gonsalves and Kauhane.
Mason Carvalho, ending with seven points, also netted a trey. Poki Tafea ended with four points and pairs from Kaipo fulton and Jhencen Cummings rounded out the win.
Pono Carvalho and Syrus Delos Reyes topped the Team Lihue scoring on seven and six points, respectively. Kellen Coloma and Mikey Manera each netted four points with Michael Questin, Marique Manera and Mike Navarro each adding pairs.
Papalina, division 3 boys, earlier wrapped up a 48-22 edge over the Supersonics, who were limited to scoring from just three of its players. Mayson Broyles hit three treys toward his game-total 11 points and Aden Ringor added nine points.
Amalya Sales finished with a game-high 13 points to keep Team Central, division 3 girls, ahead of the Westside Girls, 16-10, in the nightcap. Jasmyne Ballesteros added a pair in the win.
Cori Burton and Braeanna Moises led the Westside effort with four and three points, respectively.
