Mark Bonilla (he looks good in red) and Alfred Medeiros (welcome home from Hilo!) are getting excited about Monday when Jack in the Box is scheduled to open up at 6 a.m. Congratulations to John Cliff Construction (he used almost all Kauai people including superintendent Tom Pereza) to complete the 3,000- square-foot building which managers claim won’t be closing “until the next big wave, or hurricane”). Yep. It’s 24 hours and breakfast (good news, Santa Phil Worwa) is available whenever they’re open.
Kudos to Kauai Community College Chancellor Helen Cox, Alton Amimoto, Rex Acosta and all those hard-working volunteers who worked to clear out the overgrowth at the Puhi Camp Cemetery (that plot plan looks like an official county document) as part of the University of Hawaii community colleges’ 50th anniversary. So, how many more secret places does Calvin Shirai know of that we can discover?
OK, time to get up early and check out Fran MacDonald at the Fun Run and Manetti DeCosta at the Ukes in Paradise.
Happy 100th birthday, Kazuma Monty Nishie, a 100th Battalion veteran!
